Walter E. Wilson, 73, of El Paso, IL passed away at 10:45 am on
Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his
residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday,
October 28, 2013 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El
Paso. Rev. Bill Vandervoort will officiate. Visitation
will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm at the funeral
home. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery in Minonk, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Hudson Christian
Church.
Walter was born on April 26, 1940 in Pinckneyville,
IL the son of Walter A. and Lola Saddler Wilson. He married Barbara
B. Gillison on August 18, 1961 in Sparta, IL. She
survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James W. (Tracy) Wilson
of Stonefort, IL; Jason S. (Gwen) Wilson of Washburn, IL; four
grandchildren, Jon Wilson, Tim Wilson, Dawn (Anthony) Fenton, Mandy
(Frank) Padovani, and five sisters, Barbara Smith of Rockwood, IL;
Shirley (Bill) Boucher of Minonk, IL; Phyllis (George) VanMeter of
Minonk, IL; Nancy (Roger) Schroeder of Chester, IL; and Elaine
(Roy) Johnson of Cobden, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother,
and three
sisters.
Walter worked as a truck driver last being employed
for Kelsey Farms. He had worked as a policeman for the City
of El Paso and was a Woodford County Deputy. He also
served on the El Paso city council and the El Paso Emergency
Squad.
Walter served in the United States Navy as a third
class corpsman. He was a member of the Hudson Christian Church
where he served as a board member and deacon of the church.
