Wallace Furrow

Wallace "Wally" D. Furrow, 86 of El Paso, IL went home to be with the Lord at 5:03 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Advocate Eureka Hospital after a short illness.
He was born on January 18, 1933 in rural El Paso a son of Caldwell B. and Alma Duncan Furrow. He married Lorene Bess on August 4, 1953 in El Paso. She survives.
Survivors include one son, Wayne (Annette) Furrow of El Paso; one daughter, Lori (Brad) Smitheram of Zionsville, IN; one sister, Judy Stimpert of El Paso; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dennis Furrow and one sister, Shirley Toole.
Wally was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved nothing more than providing for and spending time with his family. He had a great zest for life, and lived it to the absolute fullest.
He was the owner/operator of El Paso Grain, Sun Ag Inc, Furrow Winery, Furrow Trucking all in El Paso. He farmed all his life and the last several years he worked with his son and grandson at Furrow Farms.
Wallace was the state director of USDA of Rural Development. He was a past President of the Illinois Feed and Grain Association and Illinois Wine Association. He served and participated in many professional and community organizations.
Wallace proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1555 in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.
Wallace was a member of the Community Bible Fellowship in El Paso where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Pastor Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Community Bible Fellowship in El Paso and also from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso where military rites will be accorded at the grave. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
