Gridley- Viola M. Ringger, 97, of Gridley was carried safely in the arms of Jesus to her eternal home on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community where she resided.
Viola was born on Christmas Day, 1920 at her family home south of Gridley, the first child of Bernhardt and Leah Welk Ringger.
Surviving are two sisters, Lillian Ringger, with whom she resided, of Gridley and Betty Herrmann of Princeville; three brothers, Edwin (Pat) Ringger of Gridley and Ray and Fred Ringger both of Chenoa. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews, 79 great great nieces and nephews and 3great great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Alvin, a nephew Stan, a brother in law, Gene Herrmann, and three sisters in laws, Dorothy, Nadine and Mary.
Vi's life was one of devotion to her Lord and Savior and her family. Her nieces and nephews and their children were blessed each year with a specially chosen birthday and Christmas gift. She along with her sister Lil, took almost all of them on trips to various places. She was a second "Mom" and "Grandma" to many of them.
She had worked at the Gridley Telephone Company as an operator then worked for many years at RinggerFeeds, Gridley.
Vi enjoyed photography, gardening, flowers and birds. Thousands of birds ate from her feeder through the years as she enjoyed identifying the different species.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Gridley for 81 years, where her funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to her services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be next to her parents in Gridley Cemetery. Ruestman Harris Funeral Home, El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vi was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all who were blessed by her love and care.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community or a charity of the donor's choice.
