EL PASO- Vernon Agnew, 92, of El Paso, formerly of Wenona, passed away at 11:40 PM on Sunday April 16, 2017, at Heritage Health Care Center in El Paso.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 2 PM on Friday April 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Paso with Fr. John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1-2 PM at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in El Paso.
Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born in Panola Twp. on May 28, 1924, a son to Clarence and Edna Hall Agnew. He married Doris Salz in 1949 in Wenona. She preceded him in death in 2015.
Surviving are his son, Gene (Joann) Agnew, Towanda; daughter Debbie Brennan, Pontiac; grandchildren, Billy Brennan, Pontiac, Nick (Shelly) Agnew, Goodfield, Bryn Agnew, Towanda, Jenna Agnew, Towanda; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Donna Jane Augstin.
Vern worked for Hart Carter in Gridley for several years and was also a farmer. He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion for over 70 years.
