Velda was born on February 2, 1932 in Bloomington, IL, a daughter of Luther and Tillie Folkers Krug. She married Kenneth Faulk on March 1, 1951 in Minonk, IL. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1999.
Surviving are her three sons: Ken (Crystal) Faulk, of El Paso, Randy (Robin) Faulk of Secor, and Jerry (Kathy) Faulk of El Paso, six grandchildren, Jeremy (Teresa) Faulk of El Paso, Justin (Amy) Faulk of Minonk, Jessica (Joe) Foster, El Paso, Amy (Doug) Kent of El Paso, Jared and Joshua Faulk both of El Paso; twelve great grandchildren; and her sister, Eileen (Frank) Bogarof Minier.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her step-father, Clarence Hielscher.
Velda and her husband Ken started Faulk's Shoe Repair business in the early 50's and then expanded to furniture reupholstering. The business added custom draperies in 1964. In 1971, they bought a local retail furniture business. In her later years, Velda spent much of her time working for her youngest son, Jerry, at Faulk's Floorcovering, welcoming anyone who walked through the door. Velda was church organist, choir member, and was involved with the El Paso Community Choir. Velda also performed in a gospel quartet for many years. Velda spent much of her time in her yard and beautiful flower gardens. Velda was awarded House of the Month Award multiple times.
Velda has moved into her new home that was prepared for her by her Heavenly Father. Velda was a true blessing to everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed. Velda was the full definition of love as the bible described it. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Velda will truly be missed by her family and friends for the way she could laugh at herself, her positive outlook on life, her deep love for her family and friends, and her commitment to the Lord.
