Thomas Godar

Thomas Dean Godar, 59, of Morton, passed away at 1:20 a.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

He was born November 11, 1955 in Peoria to John D. and Shirley J. (McCollum) Godar. He married Arlene M. Budde on September 6, 1980 in Minonk, IL. She died January 12, 2011 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his father and brother James.

Surviving are one son, Brian (Erin) Godar of Borden, IN; two sisters, Lucille (Bill) Mumaw of St. Peters, MO and Linda Brickner of Spring Bay, IL; one brother, Richard Godar of Mapleton, IL, his mother, Shirley Godar of Morton, IL; mother-in-law, Darlene Budde of Flanagan, IL; one sister-in-law, Linda Godar of St. Charles, MO and one granddaughter on the way.

Thomas was a U.S. Marine veteran serving from July of 1973 to April of 1977. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

He was a member of Toast Masters International; he enjoyed photography and video editing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk, IL. Rev. Daniel Tuhy will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home from noon til 2 p.m.. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
