Steven Foster Wood, 68, of Chicago, formerly of El Paso, passed away at 7:29 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Peterson Park Health Care Center in Chicago.
He was born December 8, 1950 in Des Moines, IA to Wayne F. and Ruth E. (Herman) Wood. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Glenna Brady and a granddaughter, Clara Eloise Shelley.
Surviving are two daughters, Cassandra (Christopher) Shelley of Bartlett, IL and Kimberly (Jody) Stevens of Gridley, IL; four brothers, John (Mary Anne) Wood of Baltimore, MD, Ronald (Nancy) Wood of Muscatine, IA, James (Carolyn) Wood of Des Moines, IA, Brian Wood of Maquoketa, Iowa; three sisters Patricia Wood of Tampa, Florida; Donna Wood of Des Moines, IA; Pamela (Steve) Bailey of Rock Falls, IA; and four grandchildren Emma and Carly Stevens and Callie and Caitlynn Shelley. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Steven graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1969 and also received an Associate's degree in AutoCAD from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, IA. He retired in May of 2008 as a Building Designer for American Buildings Company after six years of service.
Steven loved camping, walking, riding his bike and ice cream. He was also an avid Cubs and baseball fan.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Pastor Larry Van Gundy will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to funeral services from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
