Kappa- Spencer Lee Kirwan, 20, of Kappa, IL passed from this life at 1:46 pm on August 20, 2014 at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, IL.
He was born on October 11, 1993 in Normal, IL a son of Mike and Darci Poppe Kirwan. Surviving are his parents Mike and Darci Kirwan of Kappa, IL; siblings, Hannah and Zach Kirwan at home; Greg Bose (Cheyenne Benton) of Minonk, IL; Jared Poppe of Ramona, CA; Mindy (Marshall) McCoy of Bellflower, IL; two nieces, Ashleigh and Alexis McCoy; his grandparents Don and Kathy Poppe of Colfax, IL; Donna Baker of Bloomington, IL; aunt Dena Poppe of Tinley Park, IL; his "side kicks", Zach Arbuckle and Ashley Petrzelka; all of his co-workers at American Eagle Outfitters and Teddy Buckman's; and many great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Katie Kirwan.
Spencer was a 2012 graduate of El Paso-Gridley High School. He attended Grossmont College in El Cajon, CA and Heartland Community College in Normal. He was a proud 11 year member of the Davis-Kerber Post #653 Sons of the American Legion in Colfax, IL; Mu Alpha Theta; and Scholastic Bowl. He loved football, basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Spencer had a love and passion for his motorcycle. His endless curiosity and lust for life is an inspiration to us all. He never met a stranger. He has touched so many lives in his short time with us. Bazinga!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Fr. Carl Lopresti will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer Kirwan Memorial Fund in care of Flanagan State Bank in El Paso. Online tributes and condolences may be sent to his family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
