S. Roy Funk
Eureka - Silas Roy Funk, 94 of Eureka, IL, formerly of Gridley passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
He was born on August 31, 1920 at Gridley, IL a son of Joseph and Mary Grusy Funk. He married Bertha M. Pulfer on February 21, 1954 in Gridley. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2012.
Surviving are three sons, Randall R. Funk of Eureka, Jerry L. Funk of Bloomington, IL, and John L. Funk of Gridley; four daughters, Rhonda J. (Larry) Bauer of Lithia, FL, Charlene F. (David) Wagenbach of Burlington, IA, Lori A. Funk of Bloomington, IL, and Karen K. Funk of Normal, IL; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Funk and Violette Funk, both of Morton, IL; three grandchildren, Diana (Greg) Eisenmann, Candace Wagenbach, and Rachel Wagenbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bruce B. Funk, four brothers and three sisters.
Roy started out farming with his dad and brothers, and had a milk route with Gridley Cheese Co. Later, he was a factory worker and a Fuller Brush salesman.
An Army veteran, Roy served his country during WWII as a cook attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 1:00-2:00 pm at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka and from 6:00-8:00 pm at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9:30 am until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
