Robert Koos

EL PASO-Robert F. Koos, 94, of El Paso, passed away at 8:52 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his residence in El Paso.
His memorial mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday April 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Parish in El Paso with Fr. John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be 1 hr prior to mass from 9-10 AM at the church.
Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born in Bloomington on June 4, 1922 a son to Albert and Clara Brennan Koos. He married Anita Monge on August 8, 1953 in Roanoke. She survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Gene (Sue) Koos, El Paso; John (Marty) Koos, El Paso; Joe Koos, Roanoke; William (Jill) Koos, Minonk; sister-in-law, Murial Koos, Winterhaven, FL; grandchildren, Maggie, Kathleen, and Michael Koos, Peter and Molly Koos; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Mary Kerz and Bea Shoenbrun; and 2 brothers, Albert Koos and Richard Koos.
Robert grew up on the west side of Bloomington near Miller Park. He graduated from St. Mary's Grade School in 1936 and Trinity High School in 1940. He then served in the US Army during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. Upon his return he graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1950. He taught high school in Roanoke, Lostant, and at Peoria Woodruff. He retired from Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish in El Paso and the Knights of Columbus in Roanoke.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish in El Paso, Right to Life, or a charity of the donor's choice.
