Tiskilwa-Michael Eugene Rippel, 71, of Tiskilwa, IL, formerly of Morton and El Paso, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
His funeral will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in El Paso, IL. Pastor Jonathan Boehne will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10-11 before the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso.

Mike was born August 4, 1945 in Bloomington, IL, the son of Clarence and Elisabeth Molitoris Rippel. He married Diana Vandersall in 1976 in Morton.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; their children, Katherine Schutte of Orion, IL and Edward Rippel of Champaign, IL; grandchildren, Aidan, Sara, and Samuel Schutte, all of Orion, IL; two sisters, Judy (William) Kummer of Missouri City, TX and Kathy (George) Miller of Normal, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike grew up in El Paso, IL attending El Paso Elementary, El Paso High School, and church at Trinity Lutheran. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1969 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a civil engineer for District 4 (based in Peoria) until retirement in 2003, at which time he was Chief of Operations in charge of maintenance and traffic for District 4. He was a highly respected engineer for the Department.
A passionate pilot, Mike greatly enjoyed flying his Cessna, especially on family vacations and for distant trips such as one to Alaska. He was a sincere and devoted husband and father. He was a brilliant, yet quiet and unassuming man, who was loved for his fount of knowledge and advice, his sense of humor, and his kindness, honesty, and generosity.
