Mark Francis McNamara 64, of Minonk passed away on July 17, 2019 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born on September 29, 1954 in Streator to the late Raymond F. and Kathryn N. (Davis) McNamara. He married Julie O'Neill on September 15, 1984 in Minonk. She survives.
Mark was preceded in death by one brother Mike McNamara.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Rita McNamara of Wellington, New Zealand, Sara McNamara of Peoria; step-mother: Mary McNamara of Minonk; 2 sisters: Anne McNamara of Chicago, Kathy McNamara of Washington; 2 brothers: Raymond (Deb) McNamara of South Lake, TX, Steve McNamara of Minonk; and 1 sister-in-law: Regenna McNamara of Minonk.
Mark worked for Caterpillar for 42 years in the East Peoria Building LL. He started his career as a welder and rose through the ranks becoming a member of management before his retirement in 2014. During his time at Caterpillar he represented the UAW Local 974 as a Union Bargaining Representative for Building LL for 18 years. Mark was employed by Fieldcrest as a bus driver for 15 years. He really enjoyed looking after the children of the community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Minonk City Council, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk.
Visitation will be on July 23, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk starting at 9am. A memorial mass officiated by the Franciscan Friars will begin at 10am and light lunch to follow. Burial will be held on August 16, 2019 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Minonk. The Celebration of Life will be held at the Rutland Legion off of Rt. 251 from 4:30-8pm that evening catered by Gather Together Catering. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home.
