Gridley-Marjorie L. Meiss, 78, of Gridley, IL was called to her eternal home in Heaven at 3:30 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa where she was a resident.
She was born on September 14, 1936 in Eureka, IL a daughter of Ezra and Martha Martin Stoller. She married Floyd R. Meiss on January 22, 1956 in Gridley. He passed away on July 19, 2002.
Surviving are three children; daughter, Linda (Keith) Zimmerman; one son, David (Debbie) Meiss; one daughter,Peggy (David) Poppen all of Gridley, IL; two sisters, Dorothy Ringger of Gridley; Doris (Robert) Meiss of Peoria; one brother, Herb (Nancy) Stoller of East Peoria; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Joel) Gramm, Andy (Amber) Zimmerman, Kristin Zimmerman, Derek (Sarah) Meiss, Jordan Meiss, Chloe Meiss, Amanda Poppen (Odulio Rios), Alex Poppen, Sam Poppen, Darci Poppen, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Jeffrey, infant daughter Diane, and a sister Marlene Leman.
She was a graduate of Gridley High School.
Marge put her faith, family, and others first in her life. She farmed along side of her husband for many years and they enjoyed traveling together. Her grandchildren were a special treasure to her. Marge exemplified the characteristics of a Proverbs 31 woman.
She was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2014. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be
on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9 to 9:45 am on Friday at the church before the service. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
