Eileen Roberts, 92, of Normal, IL passed away at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Advocate Bromenn Hospital in Normal, IL.
She had been the only survivng sibling of seven children born on December 22, 1926 to Harry and Emma Yergler of Gridley.
Surviving are a daughter, Jodie Roberts-Hill(Ronnie) of Killeen, TX; son, Robin Roberts(Nisa) of Morton.
Eileen attended Gridley High school where she was a cheerleader and acted in plays. At eighteen, she married Donald Roberts of Chenoa who was then a signalman in the Navy. Don worked in the automotive field and died in 1974 at age 51. Eileen worked at GNC in Pekin for Country Companies and three different positions for BroMenn. She also worked at Meadows Nursing Home in activities.
A member of the Bloomington Apostolic Christian Church, her spirituality was evident in her loving frequent smile, her sense of fun and her bright spirit. Her love of God, church and family was inspiring and made her so dearly loved by family, friends and members of the church. She enjoyed reading as well.
The family wishes to thank Margi Steffen for her weekly care for mom and ever present assistance. Thanks to Dorie and Annie Widmer for their many years of love and support. Thanks to those who provided her the newspaper and contributed to her monthly expenses, to all those helped with her move and for the many visits and acts of love and kindness by so many throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Bloomington Apostolic Christian Church . Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is handling arrangements for the family.
