Lowell Litwiller

May 6, 1925 — April 29, 2017

Gridley- Lowell J. Litwiller, 91 of Gridley, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence.
Lowell was born on May 6, 1925 at Gridley a son of Reuben and Ruth Rich Litwiller. He married Wilma King on December 28, 1947 at the Gridley Methodist Church and they enjoyed almost 70 years together. She survives.
Other survivors include his son Alan (Connie) Litwiller, Plainfield; a daughter Kathy (Mike) Richardson, Bloomington; five grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Paprstein, Dan (Sarah) Litwiller, Ryan (Ashley) Litwiller, Andrea (Cal) Samuelson, Kristina (Zane) DeBeck; nine great grandchildren and his sister, Donna Fleming, Gridley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Doug Litwiller.
Lowell retired from the Eureka Company as an accountant. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Church where he served as song leader for over 65 years. Lowell was very active in his church and had served as choir director, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, deacon, member of the council, youth leader, and sang with the male quartet. He was invited to sing at many church events including weddings and funerals. Lowell was chairman of the Salem Children's Home Board, Gridley Library Board, and the Gridley School Board. He served on the Meadows Mennonite Home Board and the Gridley Telephone Board. He volunteered at Spare n Share in Gridley and many Red Cross Bloodmobiles, and as a Little League Coach. He enjoyed playing the piano at the Meadows Mennonite Home for many years. In 2001 Lowell was presented with the Gridley Community Service Award.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Salem Evangelical Church. Rev. Stuart Rex will officiate. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 on Monday at Ruestman Harris Funeral Home, El Paso. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
Lowell was deeply loved my his friends and family and will be dearly missed.
