Lois Heck

Lois R. Heck, 96, of Rutland, Il passed away at 12:23 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Meadows Mennonite Home.
Lois was born on September 2, 1922 in rural Rutland a daughter of Oakley Everett and Elsie Vest Lawrence. She married Emmett Heck on May 23, 1946 in Rutland, Il. He passed away on June 9, 2010.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Wince of Lake Bloomington; two sons, Ray (Tracy) Heck of Lake Wildwood; Ken (Cendee) Heck of Normal; nine grandchildren, Amy O'Connor; Joy Andros; Jamie Wince; Curt Wince; Crystal Arnold; Ashley Heck; Chandra Allen; Christina Wilson; Jacob Heck; seven great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Smith; two sisters, Marie Vawter, Gladys Ioerger; one brother, George Lawrence and infant twin brothers.
Lois was a member of the Rutland Christian Church and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Wenona.
She graduated from ISNU in 1942. Lois taught elementary school prior to her role as homemaker. She and Emmett raised livestock, grain and four children on their farm near Rutland. In latter years Grandma's farm was the place to go for many family get togethers and sleepovers prior to moving to Normal in 2005.
The family would like to thank the staff and caring individuals of the Villages of Mercy Creek in Normal , Meadows Mennonite Home in rural Chenoa and OSF Hospice.
Graveside services will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Rutland Cemetery. Pastor Peter Glock will officiate. Per Lois's request there will be no visitation. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk is handling arrangements for the family.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children. Online condolences may be sent to the family at ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
