Roanoke- Kathryn Hodel, 94, of Roanoke, passed away at 5:45 pm
on Saturday September 14, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home of
She was born on May 30, 1919 in Roanoke, IL to John and Anna
Schumacher Mangold. She married Raymond Hodel on May 12, 1946
in Roanoke, IL. He passed away on May 14, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Judy) Hodel of Leawood, KS; Alan
(Beverly) Hodel of Tequesta, FL; two daughters, Judy (Harold)
Sauder of Roanoke; Joyce Hodel of Evanston, IL. Six grandchildren;
and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Curtis; one
infant brother; and two infant sisters.
A homemaker, Kathryn had the gift of hospitality. She truly
enjoyed entertaining and serving her family, her church, and
others. She loved tending to her flower gardens and she also
enjoyed the time spent sewing and quilting with her friends.
Kathryn and Ray also enjoyed traveling with their family and
friends throughout their lives.
Kathryn was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church
where funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday September
17. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be
held from 4-7 pm on Monday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in
Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Tuesday prior to the services at the
church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
