Kathryn Gilliland

Kathryn R. Gilliland, 95 of El Paso, died at 7:42 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Heritage Health in El Paso.



She was born October 28, 1922 to Collie and Stella (Bryan) Fritschle. She married Robert Gilliland on September 6, 1942 in Urbana, IL. He died on July 29, 1995.



She was also preceded in death by one son Mark Gilliland; one brother Darrel Fritschle; and two sisters Dorothy Kincaid and Virginia Isenburg.



Surviving are her grandchildren Elizabeth (Jeff) Mercier of Bloomington, IL, Matt (Cassie) Gilliland of Lafayette, IN, Allison (Luke) Carr of El Paso, IL, Andrew Gilliland of Pensacola, FL; five great-grandchildren Alex, Carter, Sophia, Hannah and William.



Kathryn was co-owner/operator and founder of the IGA and the Dairy Queen in El Paso. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in El Paso in her younger years. Later in life she enjoyed doing puzzles to keep her mind busy and active.



A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in El Paso. Pastor Johnathon Boehne will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting with arrangements.
