1966 Karen 2019

Karen Gresham

December 3, 1966 — March 23, 2019

Karen Jean Gresham, of Minonk, IL, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, was called home to the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Heritage Health Center in Minonk. She was sent down from heaven 52 years ago on December 3, 1966 in Chicago, IL to Geneva (Killough) Gresham, and the late Walter E. Gresham Sr.

She is survived by her seven siblings: Perry (Carol) Rhoades of Washburn, IL, Geni (Ron) Kalley of Scappoose, OR, Scott (Kathy) Rhoades of Mooresville, NC, Steve (Angel) Rhoades of Jacksonville, NC, Danette (Steve) Bellman of Secor, IL, Kathy (Bruce) Brucker of Washington, IL, and Wally (Christine) Gresham of Lancaster, SC. Karen had twenty six nieces and nephews, and thirty seven great nieces and nephews that she adored. She was and always will be the angel of the family.

Karen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton, IL for over thirty years. She enjoyed sign language, signing every Sunday along with their choir. Karen was an employee at HRC in Clinton, IL for twenty five years, and retired in 2016. She was a very proud lifetime member of the Martina McBride Fan Club. Karen also was a prior participant in the Special Olympics, medaling numerous times and achieving goals in multiple events including track, gymnastics, and bowling.

Karen loved and served Jesus with her whole heart, and leaves behind a lifetime of memories. Her sweet, smiling, loving, joyful, kind, caring, funny, Jesus loving personality will be missed beyond measure. Karen brought so much joy to everyone she met, and taught us all the meaning of pure, unconditional love. She absolutely adored her family and all kinds of music. Some of her favorite pastimes were writing love letters to her friends & family, and proudly proclaiming that she was a Christian. She loved to belt out her songs on the radio with her beloved guitar and microphone. Her radiant personality was a true testament to who she was, never knowing a stranger and never knowing a bad day.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso from 4-6 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Cremation will be accorded. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Special Olympics.
