Flanagan- Joan M. Smith, 82 of Flanagan passed away at 6:32 p.m. on June 24, 2018 at OSF John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Christ Community Church, Gridley. Pastor Andy Huette will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in Minonk Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Caring Pregnancy Center, Pontiac, IL or Christ Community Church, Gridley. Ruestman Harris Funeral Home, Minonk is assisting her family with arrangements.
Joan was born on October 13, 1935 at Gary, Indiana a daughter of Paris and Edna Tucker Roach. She married Glen A. Smith on January 15, 1955 at Gary, IN. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Smith, Flanagan; two sons, Vern (Marie) Smith, Lexington, and Steve (Jaynet) Smith, Flanagan; six grandchildren, Eric (Jamie) Smith, Flanagan, Brent (Albana) Smith, Flanagan, Ryne Bessler, Cassidy Bessler and Cooper Bessler , and Karah Smith all of Lexington; five great grandchildren, Nolan, Brock, Dylan, Owen and Madison; one sister, Erma Covault, Hebron, IN.
She was preceded in death by her son Scott and two sisters.
Joan was a member of Christ Community Church, Gridley and enjoyed playing Dominos with her friends. Joan and Glen spent winters in Florida where she enjoyed her exercise classes. She truly loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
