Jeanette Grube

July 1, 1920 — February 4, 2015

Jeanette Grube, 94, of El Paso, IL passed away at 3:45 A.M. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Heritage Health Care in El Paso.

She was born on July 1, 1920 in Rensselaer, IN a daughter of Glenn and Nettie Davisson Norman. She married Arthur M. Grube. Jeanette and Art met in Wheatfield, IN and courted through correspondence during Art's time in the service. They were married during the course of a 30 day furlough on June 17, 1945, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Rensselaer, IN.

Surviving are their children, Garry Grube (Miriam Blazowski) of Chicago, IL; Dennis (Susan) Grube of El Paso, IL; Douglas Grube of El Paso; Nancy (David) Carter of Pleasant Prairie, WI; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Charlene Bragg and Bonnie Vale Shook; a granddaughter, Sherrie Hicky; and great-grandson, Gavin Grube.

Jeanette began her life in Rensselaer, IN. She was raised on the family farm. Growing up, she was always interested in music. Her aunt gave her piano lessons and she participated in piano competitions. She also sang in the school choir. Jeanette received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from DePauw University in Indiana. She went on to teach music in Wheatfield, IN and also gave private piano lessons for many years. In addition, she was a long time accompanist/organist at the United Church of Christ and she also accompanied students for music contests.

She accepted Christ as her savior in the 1970's. She went on to minister at Heritage Manor by reading scriptures to the residents. Art and Jeanette began attending Community Bible Fellowship, El Paso in the 90's, and were active in Bible Studies there.

She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a member of Home Extension and she and Art were members of El Paso Farmers Club for 42 years. She was a dedicated farm wife, taking meals to Art in the field for over 60 years. In her later years, Jeanette enjoyed flower gardening. She continued to play the piano into her late 80's.

Jeanette brought excellence to the career of being a homemaker. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She left a legacy of faith in Christ, humility, and service to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Community Bible Fellowship Church in El Paso. Rev. Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4-7 P.M. at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso.
