Helen Roth, 93, of Gridley, IL, passed away at 10:41 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Meadows Mennonite Home in Meadows, IL.
She was born on October 20, 1925, in Meadows, IL, the daughter of Rudolph and Katherine Egle Hauser. She married Harold Roth on April 2, 1950, in Gridley, IL. Harold passed away on June 28, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stan Hauser and Norm Hauser, and one sister, Marilyn Litwiller.
Survivors include three sons, Ben (Kathleen) Roth of Gridley, IL, Jeff (Lyne) Roth of Mapleton, IL, and Ted (Susan) Roth of Normal, IL; 11 grandchildren, Will (Michelle) Roth, Anne (Bob) Wettstein, Sarah (Derek) Meiss, Dr. Katherine (Dr. Douglas) Kasper, Susan Roth, Mary (Matthew) Sump, Alex (Erin) Roth, Luke (Amy) Roth, Ben Roth, Selah Schieber, and Avery Schieber; and 15 great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Janet Hauser, Carol Hauser, and Jean Mallory, all of Gridley, IL.
Helen was a member of Salem Church in rural Gridley where she taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. She was a member of the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community Board from 1987 to 2012 and managed their Auxiliary Snack Shop. Helen loved children and delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed serving others, reading, traveling, attending community sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.
Helen's family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Creek Assisted Living and Meadows Mennonite Home for their kindness and support of Helen during her residencies there.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Salem Church. Pastor Stuart Rex will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso, IL. Burial will in the Gridley Cemetery.
