Halsey Monier

Halsey Joe Monier, 86, passed away on May 7, 2014 at
Heartland Healthcare in Henry, IL.


Joe was born Dec. 5, 1927 in Sparland to Robert Halsey and Edith
(Waugh) Monier. Joe married Donna Jean Wichman on Sept. 29, 1951 in
Bartonville, IL. She preceded him in death on August 21, 1997. He
was also preceded by his brother, Robert W. Monier of Sparland and
his sister, Willmina Hogg of Bluffton, IN.



He is survived by four children, Albert (Carol) of Sparland,
Robert (friend Nick Cowley) of Peoria, Edith Rummerfield of Henry
and Michelle Monier (Keith Olson) of Sparland; grandchildren,
Ashley (Bud) Fallon of Henry, Celena Monier of Sparland and
Marshall Rinaldo of Granville; great grandchildren, Bryce and Elan
Fallon; Rod Monier, nephew of Sparland, Bill Hogg, nephew, and Barb
Lochner, niece, both of IN; and one brother-in-law Robert J.
Wichman of Bartonville, IL.



Joe farmed his entire life on the Oak Glade Farm in Sparland
with his father, R.H., brother Bob, nephew Rod, son Al and
son-in-law Butch Rummerfield, operating as Monier Bros. and Monier
Cattle.



Joe served on the Marshall County Board, Supervisor of Steuben
Township, LaPrairie Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors,
Director and Chairman of the Board of the Henry State Bank, Member
and Elder of the LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church and Northern
Illinois Colt Association Director and Vice President. Joe was
Director and past President of the Marshall-Putnam Fair. He was
Superintendent of Speed for the standard bred horse racing,
following in his father's footsteps since 1976. Anyone who knew Joe
knew that after the crops were in every spring, he could be found
at the M-P Fairgrounds in Henry with many other friends and
volunteers doing repairs, painting, planting trees and other
numerous activities in preparation for the fair.



The family would like to thank Heartland Health Care and Vitas
Hospice.



Services will be held on Monday May 12 at 11:00 am at The
LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church in rural Sparland, the
Reverend Melinda Stephenson Officiating. Visitation is from 4-7pm
Sunday May 11 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. Burial will be at the
LaPrairie U P Cemetery.



Memorials may be made to the LaPrairie United Presbyterian
Church, Marshall-Putnam Fair Association or Vitas Hospice. Online
