El Paso - George Dean Bell, 96, of El Paso, passed away at 8:18 pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Heritage Healthcare in El Paso.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Paso with Fr. John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-10:00 a.m. a.m. on Monday prior to mass at the church.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in El Paso with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Healthcare in El Paso.
Dean was born on March 1, 1922 in Panola, Illinois, a son to Roy and Mabel Roth Bell. He married Eloise Volz on June 20, 1946 in El Paso. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1998.
Surviving is his daughter, Mary Beth (Tony) Petta of El Paso; grandchildren, Beth Ann Craig of Toluca, Joe (Samantha) Petta of El Paso and Julie (Glenn) Cusac of Navair, FL; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Bell.
Dean proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII stationed in Casablanca, Italy. He piloted a C-46 transport, engaged in troop and cargo movements in the African-Mediterranean-Middle East Theatre of Operations. He complected 1,050 hours.
He farmed for many years in Panola Twp.
