Florence Uphoff

Hudson-Florence A. Uphoff, 92, of Hudson, IL passed away at 8:35 pm on January 30, 2016 at Heritage Healthcare in Normal, IL.

She was born on August 19, 1923 in Hudson, IL a daughter of Roy and Lola Smith Hospelhorn. She married Kenneth M. Uphoff on February 11, 1945 in Hudson. He survives.

Also surviving are her seven children, Pat Estes of Flanagan, IL; Roger (Carol) Uphoff of St. Louis, MO; Roy (Colleen) Uphoff of Hudson, IL; Kathy (Steve) Schwoerer of Bloomington, IL; Bruce (Ruth) Uphoff of Leavenworth, KS; Dale (Karla) Uphoff of El Paso, IL; Neal (Gail) Uphoff of Hudson, IL; twenty-six grandchildren; and forty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Gabe; and three brothers.

Florence started out working for the War Production Board in Washington, DC; Chicago; and New York. She also worked as the McLean County Clerk and Deputy Clerk for the tax extension office.

Florence was a member of East White Oak Bible Church. She enjoyed roller skating, ceramics, and quilting. She also enjoyed listening to southern gospel concerts in Branson, MO and had participated in square dancing for several years. Florence had visited all 50 states in her lifetime and traveled to Europe several times.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting the family with their arrangements.
