Eureka- Edwin Joseph Meiss, 91, of Eureka, IL passed away at 3:49
am on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his
residence.


He was born on March 21, 1922 in Gridley, IL a son of Peter and
Lena Grusy Meiss.  He married Barbara A. Funk on February 18,
1951 in Gridley, IL.  She survives.


Also surviving are three sons, Tim (Susan) Meiss; Ty (Sharon)
Meiss; Trent (Lucy) Meiss all of Eureka, IL; one sister, Alice
(Don) Gilmore of Gridley, IL; eleven grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, four
sisters, and one
grandson.


Ed had proudly served his country with the US Navy during WW
II.  He had worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria
and Decatur before his retirement.


He attended the Apostolic Christian Church.  Funeral services
will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Gridley
Apostolic Christian Church where church ministers will
officiate.  Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from
4-7 pm at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour
before funeral services on Friday at the church.  Burial will
be in the Gridley
Cemetery.
