Dr. John Roberts Bandy

Dr. John Roberts Bandy, 70, of Normal, formerly of Raymond, IL, passed away on June 14, 2022 at his home. 

Dr. Bandy was born in Litchfield, IL on October 3, 1951 to parents Elmer H. and Carroll C. (Roberts) Bandy. John and Debbie were married on June 24, 2004 in Bloomington, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Bandy; three step-sons, all of Normal, IL: Alex (Erin) Roth; Luke (Amy) Roth; and Ben Roth; grandchildren: Ford, Quinn, Lena Roth and his mother-in law, Carolyn Shane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Carroll Bandy and his father-in-law, Kenneth Shane

Dr. Bandy graduated from University of Illinois, and University of Illinois School of Medicine. He joined Dr. James Zimmerman in 1980 and established what would become Bloomington Pediatrics. Dr. Bandy devoted 41 years of his life to practicing medicine and providing exceptional care for his pediatric patients.  John was a beloved member of the local healthcare community. 

John enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, Debbie, step-sons, and grandchildren. John loved boating on Lake of the Ozarks, traveling to Hawaii, and could always be found devouring a good book. John was known for his unwavering kindness and generosity. His calming presence and attentive care led some of his patients to refer to him as Dr. Band-Aid. His impact on the healthcare community will be remembered for years to come.

Ruestman-Harris in El Paso, IL will be assisting with funeral arrangements. 

A private memorial service will be held. A public Celebration of Life will be at Illinois Wesleyan University at the Hansen Student Center (300 E Beecher St, Bloomington, IL 61701) from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Casual attire encouraged.
