Normal - Dorothy Anna Siebert, 80,
of Normal, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014
at her residence in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Bloomington with Pastor Thomas Wirsing officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the
church. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in
Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to Trinity
Lutheran School P.E. Department, Relay for Life, or NCHS Alumni
Association. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy was born on October 6, 1933
in Congerville a daughter of Henry and Louise McBurney
Siebert.
She is survived by one brother,
Louis (Elaine) Siebert of Normal; two sisters, Margaret Stark of
Normal and Eunice (Marlan) Speidel of Lancaster, CA; 10 nieces and
nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
parents.
Dorothy graduated from Normal
Community High School and from Illinois State University with a
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physical Education. She
retired in 1989 after 34 years as an educator in Atlanta, IL and
Unit 5. She also coached girls' golf and varsity cheerleaders
for many years.
She was a lifelong member of
Trinity Lutheran Church and participated on many church
committees. She was an 11 year 4-H member and 4-H leader for
many years receiving the award for Outstanding County Leader 2
different years. She participated on many county 4-H
committees. She was a member and officer of the Normal
Community High School Alumni Association and headed several
committees. She was the first to receive the Ironmen Award
for Service to NCHS.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by
her family and many dear friends.
