GRIDLEY- Donald O. Gilmore, 90, of Gridley, died peacefully at 10:37 pm, on Tuesday March 31, 2015, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home in Chenoa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday April 3, 2015, at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church in Gridley. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Thursday April 2, 2015 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-9:45 am on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Gridley Cemetery.
He was born in West Township, McLean Co. on July 3, 1924 a son of the late Clarence and Edith Fry Gilmore. He married his high school sweetheart Alyce R. Meiss in Bloomington on January 26, 1946 and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Dennis (Brenda) Gilmore, Kathy (Dan) Kinkade, both of Gridley; 8 grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Starcevich, Jamie Gilmore, Aaron Yordy (Marle Grafton), Noel (Joe) Yeagel, Ron (Margaux) Kinkade, Alison Kinkade, Ryan Gilmore, and Adam Gilmore; 4 great-grandchildren, Kyra and Gage Yordy, and Cole and Cash Kinkade; daughter-in-law, Marj Gilmore, Shirley, IL ; and a brother, Lawrence Gilmore, Caledonia, MO.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; and a brother, Lyle.
Don graduated from Gridley High School in 1942. He was a farmer all his life and loved every aspect of it. He was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Church and the McLean Co. Farm Bureau. He also served on the Gridley School Board. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He especially loved little children.
The family would like to thank Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home, Neighborhood One for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gridley Fire Station, The Gridley Rescue Squad, or Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge, Morton.
