Charlotte Kretzer

April 11, 1946 — October 2, 2014

Charlotte L. Kretzer, 68, El Paso, at 11:39 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014, the Great Spirit came to her and he said, "I see that your pain and suffering has become too much for you to bear. Take my hand and come with me and I will take you to a place where all that will disappear. Do not worry about those you leave behind, you will be in their hearts forever, for they will cherish the good and loving times they spent with you, and they know that you will be watching over them".

She was born April 11, 1946 in Clayton, MO to Leonard and Naomi (Lancaster) Buff. She married Michael Kretzer on November 6, 1972 in Paxton, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are her children; David E. (Sally) Burgess of Normal, Darla S. (Rick) Harroun, Daniel S. (Deanna) Wilson, and Mike Jr. (Regina) Kretzer all of El Paso; two sisters, Sharon Woolman of Braidwood, IL, Brenda Creson of Columbia, SC; one brother, Frank Buff of Chatsworth, IL; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Charlotte worked at a variety of different jobs though out her years, but the one she liked the most was her time spent working for elderly ladies in Bloomington and Normal. She treated them like family and it broke her heart when she had to give up that part of her life.

Charlotte was an avid Elvis and Marilyn Monroe fan. She made many pilgrimages to Graceland and amassed collections of memorabilia on each one. She also loved hoping on the Harley with Mike and taking a ride with no destination in mind. "Just go where the road takes us", was her motto. But her true love and passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment she got to spend with them and it was never enough for her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the BroMenn Hospital (Normal) doctors and nurses for the valiant effort they made and to the Eureka Hospital doctors and nurses who took care of her on her many visits there during the last three years.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Visitation will be 2 hour prior at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Cremation will be accorded.

There will be a celebration of life gathering at the EL Paso VFW following the service.

Memorials may be made to Heart House in Eureka, IL.
