Charles Lutz

El Paso-Charles R. Lutz, 79, of El Paso and formerly of Lake Bloomington, passed away at 2:24 am on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Heritage Health in El Paso, IL.

He was born on March 31, 1937 in Mulberry Grove, IL a son of Donald Richard and Edna Grace Martin Lutz. He married Phyllis G. Tompkins on June 23, 1956 in Pleasant Mound, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Kent (Tammy) Lutz of Murfreesboro, TN; Kristi (Mark) Keith of El Paso, IL; daughter-in-law, Cyndi (Jeff) Lutz-King of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Caroline) Lutz, Cody (Sarah) Lutz, Kayse (Brandon) Collins, Katie Lutz, Zachary Lutz, Bailye (Tyler Lavigne) Keith, Kamryn Keith, and his great-granddaughter, Libby Lutz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kirk Lutz; and one brother, James.

Charles was a Navy veteran. He had worked for the Follett College Book Company and was a prior manager at the Co-Op Bookstore in Normal.

He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in El Paso and 50 year member of the Gilliam Masonic Lodge in Mulberry Grove. He enjoyed playing golf and belonged to the El Paso Golf Club. He also enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening, or working in the yard. His biggest treasures were his family, his grandchildren, and his dog "Buddy". He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Rev. Josh Gates will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-11 am at the funeral home before the service. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Fellowship Church, Community Cancer Center, or Heritage Health in El Paso. Online condolences may be sent to his family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
