Barbara M. Rossman, 71 of Rutland, IL passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 peacefully at her home in Rutland, IL.
She was born on August 31, 1947 in Streator, IL a daughter of Willis and Kathryn Klendworth. She married Robert Rossman on September 20, 1969 in Dana, IL.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Kimberly) Rossman of Dana; Marty (Minda) Rossman of Livermore, CA; one daughter, Marcy Rossman of Rutland; a sister, Karen Schmillen of Streator; four grandchildren, Josh, Kara (Brandon), Tyler and Kyle; one great grandchild, Ivy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Barb attended Dana Grade School and Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School. After high school, Barb attended the University School of Beauty Culture in uptown Bloomington where she became a hair stylist and opened a salon in the family home. She also worked 21 1/2 years as a welder for Interlake in Pontiac.
She enjoyed crocheting, mainly baby blankets. Over the years, she made hundreds of blankets for friends, family, and strangers alike. However, most she donated to the The Baby Fold for those in need. Barb will always be remembered as being feisty and extremely independent, but she had a heart of gold, was extremely selfless and had a passion for doing whatever she could to help others. She absolutely loved camping, winter trips to Florida, and spending time with her many great family and friends. However, nothing was more important to Barb than her daughter Marcy. Marcy provided her with her greatest sense of purpose and joy. She loved to cook and fed many people at her house over the years. Many of them came in as strangers, but they always left as friends. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Reverend Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. before the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rutland Cemetery
