Flanagan - Arvada H. Zimmerman, 98, of Dewey, formerly of Flanagan and Gridley, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Heartland Manor Care in Paxton.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Salem Church in rural Gridley with Pastor Stuart Rex and Pastor Neal Hauser officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church on Saturday. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be in Waldo Twp. Cemetery in rural Gridley. Memorials may be directed to Salem Church or Dewey Community Church.
Arvada was born on December 7, 1919 in Sterling, Kansas, a daughter to Albert and Lucy Mosier Miller. She married Merlo M. Zimmerman on August 9, 1947 in Sterling, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2002.
Surviving are her children, Gregory (Linda) Zimmerman of Flanagan, Dennis (Gretchen) Zimmerman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jennifer (Maynard) Birkey of Dewey and Lorna (Pete) Harter of Ft. Wayne, IN; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a sister, Bernice (Al) Damon of Bremerton, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alberta Miller.
Arvada was a secretary at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community for many years. She was a member of Salem Church in Gridley.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers and volunteering at Meadows Mennonite and Spare n Share in Gridley.
Holding to the faith of her childhood, she embraced the future with a gentle heart for all. Arvada loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
