Annabelle Halberg

October 9, 1926 — January 16, 2016

Annabelle M. Halberg, 89, formerly of Dana and Minonk, passed away Saturday, January 16 at 5:15 p.m. at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Bloomington.

Annabelle was born October 9, 1926 in Dana, the daughter of Will and Nona Antons Renken. She married Harold "Ole" Halberg on April 5, 1949 at Minonk Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died August 8, 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Even though she had no children of her own, Annabelle helped raise several nieces and nephews and was a great influence on many lives. She and her husband often had kids staying with them for weeks at a time, working on the farm and treating them as they would their own children. She was a hard worker, a great neighbor, a wonderful aunt and a devoted daughter and sister whose unique personality will be truly missed.

After the death of her husband, she continued farming on her own for the next 30 years until her retirement. When she moved off the farm, she cared for her mother for several years until her death in 1994.

Ruestman Harris Funeral Home in Minonk is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23 at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Reverend Ed Sinclair will officiate. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Wenona.
