Andrew John Haas, 62, of Normal, IL formerly of El Paso, passed away at 2:29 pm on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.
He was born on September 6, 1952 in Bloomington, IL a son of James J. and Frances "Dolly" Harms Haas.
Survivors include four sisters, Kathy (Bob) Bittner of Fairbury; Susie (Dan) Boian of Chenoa; Mary Lu (Paul) Ahrens of Normal; Lisa Sparrow of Bloomington; three brothers, Tony (Linda) Haas; Matt Haas; Jeff Haas; all of El Paso; and his special friend, Martha Feeney of Normal.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Theresa Ruble.
Andrew was employed with Stark Excavating and the Operating Engineers 649. In his free time he enjoyed working with leaded glass.
A military veteran, he served his country with the United States Air Force.
Andrew played rugby with the Bloomington Blues. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of the El Paso Golf Club where he shot a hole in one. He was a past member of the Plantation Country Club in Venice, FL and a member of the Rotonda Golf Club in Rotonda, FL. He was also a member of Englewood Elks Lodge #2378 in Englewood, FL.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Paso where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Fr. Carl LoPresti will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4-7 pm at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center in Normal.
