Allison McKey

Allison Jane McKey, 34, of Denver, CO passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2020 following a courageous, multi-year journey with cancer.

Allison was born on August 5, 1985 in Bloomington, IL to John and Pat McKey of Gridley, IL.

Allison is survived by her parents John and Pat McKey, Zach Wagner, her boyfriend and soulmate of Denver, CO; her maternal grandmother, Carolyn Bolliger of Tremont, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Paul and Amy McKey of Gridley, IL and her maternal grandfather, Harlan Bolliger of Tremont, IL.

Allison graduated from Gridley High School where she was active in band, theatre, volleyball, and cheerleading. Allison received her degree in accounting, with a minor in art history, from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2007. While in college she was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. The Kappas became her sisters. They were there for each other through all of life’s moments and especially with their love and care of Allison during her illness.

Allison worked for Deloitte in Chicago for five years and moved to Denver in 2012 where she was employed by Whiting Petroleum.

Allison loved the mountains, hiking, biking, international travel, and skiing on both water and snow. She had a joyful spirit and was a loyal friend. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and expressed that this life was only her beginning.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church in Gridley on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be livestreamed at https://youtu.be/apQ7Ew3xhYU. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Allison's name to the Sarcoma Foundation of America whose mission is to fund research and increase awareness of this rare cancer.
