Ruth Jording

Ruth E. Jording, 98, of El Paso, passed away at 1:23 a.m.,
Monday, April 14, 2014 at Heritage Health in El Paso.


She was born July 3, 1915 in Benson, IL to John and
Lena (Johnson) Smilie.  She married Paul Jording in December
of 1934 in Secor, IL.  He passed away on February 24, 1997 in
El Paso.


She was also preceded by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 1
great-granddaughter and son-in-law Carl Cotner.


Surviving are her children; Marilyn Cotner of
Louisville, KY, Carol (Don) Cirks of Minonk, IL, Dennis (Judy)
Jording of Eureka, IL, Kathy (Melvin) Tedford of Charlottesville,
VA; 1 brother Jack Smilie of Florida; 1 sister Ruby Robenstein of
Roanoke, IL; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4
great-great-grandchildren.


Ruth was a hard worker and homemaker who always
pitched in on the farm wherever she was needed.  She was also
well known for her chocolate chip cookies.  Ruth was a member
of St. John Lutheran Church in Secor.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday,
April 17, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Secor.  Pastor
Joe Burns will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior
to services at the church.  Burial will be in Secor
Cemetery.
