Bloomington - Orville D. Schenkel,
81, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday, February
12, 2014 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Orville was born on April 22, 1932
in Bloomington, a son of Adolph O. And May J. Stein Schenkel.
He married Dawn J. Andersen on January 24, 1953 in
Bloomington. She died on August 17, 1990. He later
married Carol Cole in the Lake of the Ozarks, MO. She
preceded him in death.
Surviving is a daughter, Julie
(Dennis) Backlund of Bloomington; a granddaughter, Melissa Black of
Bloomington; two great grandsons, Dakota and Austin Black, of
Bloomington; and special cousins, Jeff and Joni Schenkel.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, and Dawn and Carol.
Orville proudly served his country
in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a printer for many years at
Bloomington Offset and Original Smith Printing.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Bloomington, the American Legion and Twin City
Cruisers. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing and his

Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday,
February 15, 2014 with Pastor Chris Nitzel officiating.
Cremation rites have been
accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date at Park Hill
Mausoleum in Bloomington.

be sent to the American Cancer Society.
