El Paso-Harold Eugene Stauter, 96, of El Paso, passed away at 10 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2018, at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Normal, IL.
He was born July 7, 1921, in Washburn, IL to John and Bertha (Hoobler) Stauter. He married Edna "Haroldene" Baker on February 11, 1945, in Moultrie, GA. She died on March 15, 2007. He was also preceded in death by their son Steven R. Stauter in 1969 and two sisters (Fern and Ruth) and one brother (Charles "Bud").
Surviving are his children Linda S. Kinnikin of Joliet, Tom E. (Connie) Stauter of Bloomington; one brother, John (Maralon) Stauter of Gridley; four grandchildren, Beth (Ryan) Mouw of Joliet, Jennifer (Josh) Snodgrass of Geneva, IL, Jeff (Julie) Stauter of Sugar Grove, IL, Kristin Stauter (fiancé Scott Ahrens) of Bloomington; and six great-grandchildren.
Harold was a WWII Air Force veteran (formerly AAF) serving in the Asiatic-Pacific war earning two Bronze Battle Stars and a World War II Victory Medal.
Harold was a proud farmer and involved in farming locally for his entire life. He served 30 years as President/Director of Secor Elevator, was a DeKalb seed corn sales representative, raised cattle, and did trucking and transporting of grain before finally retiring.
A private funeral service was held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
