Harold C. Schmidtgall
Eureka- Harold C. Schmidtgall, 96, of Eureka, formerly of Gridley passed away at 4:00a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
He was born on September 27, 1919 in Morton, IL to Otto and Mary Bauman Schmidtgall. He married Elizabeth L. Frank on May 25, 1945 in Miami Beach, FL. She preceded him in death in 1982. Later he married Ethel Elizabeth Gerber of Rockville, Connecticut on June 9, 1985. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, William H. (Carol) Schmidtgall of Morton; Mary B. (Roger) Hudson of Hanna City; Ronald L. Schmidtgall of El Paso; Linda S. Krug of Lexington; Barbara L. (Ronald) Harris; James E.(Carol) Schmidtgall both of El Paso; one brother, Marvin(Dorothy) Schmidgall of Eureka; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Harold farmed in the El Paso area before operating a feed mill in Gridley and worked at Meadows Coop.
He was a U.S. Army, D-Day landing veteran who earned a purple heart.
He loved his Lord and Savior and his family, possessing a dry sense of humor, which will be missed and remembered fondly.
Harold was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church where he served as a minister and the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Graveside services will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Gridley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka or to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
