Gavin Grube

Gavin A. Grube, 13, of El Paso,
passed away on January 3, 2014, at his home with his parents by his
side.

He was born March 25, 2000, in Normal, IL, the son of Matt and
Inga Grube. He was an eighth grader at EPG Junior High who attended
church and youth group at East White Oak Bible Church. Gavin
admirably lived his life with cancer and was a St. Jude patient for
over nine years.

Gavin is survived by his parents, Matt and Inga Grube; one
sister, Tristyn Grube; his paternal grandparents, Dennis &
Susan Grube; paternal great-grandparents Art and Jeanette Grube;
maternal grandparents, Richard and Pat Bergquist, all of El Paso;
and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gavin loved sports and was passionate in every aspect for the
game of hockey, especially the NHL and his favorite team The
Chicago Blackhawks. Along with immeasurable hours in the driveway
at home, he played two seasons of hockey for the Bloomington Junior
Blaze League. In addition he played ICSL soccer for El Paso and
club soccer for the Illinois Fusion. Gavin was also a devoted NFL
fan.

Gavin loved to travel and was a connoisseur of fine dining and a
coffee fanatic. He was an engaging person with a positive witty
attitude who fervently shared his faith in Christ and the plan of
salvation to others.

Pastors Larry VanGundy and Scott Boerckel will be officiating a
memorial celebration on Saturday, January 11th at 10 am. Gavin
wanted to openly invite anyone touched by his life to a service
being held in the Titan Center at El Paso High School, followed by
a time of greeting with the family.
