Billy Eugene Romersberger

Gridley-Billy Eugene Romersberger, 91, of Gridley, IL passed away at his residence at 8:15 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

He was born on May 26, 1925 in Carlock, Illinois a son of George and Emma Zimmerman Romersberger. He married Lucille Kuntz on April 27, 1947 in Gridley. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, daughter-in-law Ardean Romersberger Stoller of Gridley; Ronald (Gail) Romersberger of Gridley; Debra (Dr. Gerardo) Grieco of Bloomington; Denise Romersberger of East Peoria; twelve grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Romersberger and one grandson, Jeffrey Romersberger.

Bill had farmed in the Gridley area and also worked at Gridley Milling Feed Company, Meadows Co-op, and Hart Carter. He also drove a school bus for the Gridley school system.

Bill was well loved by all who knew him and especially by his family. He loved everyone and always had a joke to brighten everyone's day. Bill and his wife Lucille just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Bill was a long suffering Cubs fan who was able to celebrate their World Series win last fall. He enjoyed all of his family and the many activities that occurred over the years. In his younger years, he was a track star at Congerville High School. Bill gave his life to the Lord Jesus early in his life. His quiet demonstration of his steadfast faith was an example to all that knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9-9:45 am at the church on Saturday before the service. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
