Alfred moved out of his family home in El Paso, IL at the age of 13 working for and living with several different farmers. He resided in Gridley for the rest of his life. He started his own trucking business in 1965 hauling grain. He built that company into an interstate trucking business that hauled many products all over the 48 contiguous states. He retired from Hall Trucking Inc. in 2000.
Al had been a volunteer on the Gridley Fire Department for 30 years where he had served as assistant chief for a time. He served for the Illinois National Guard for six years.

Al was blessed with many opportunities to serve the Lord thru mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic and Latvia. He served at the prison ministry in Pontiac, IL. He was a board member of the Spare and Share in Gridley where the board asked him to seek a new building. That new building was completed with God's help in July of 2012.

Al never knew a stranger, loved children and had many extra "grandchildren" and enjoyed hugs. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. We are blessed with the many memories and knowing that he is with the Lord.

The family would like to thank OSF Hospice for their compassionate care and attentiveness.
