Raymond "Dwight" Fowler
Bloomington-Raymond "Dwight" Fowler, 90, of Bloomington, passed
away at 6:40 am on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on December 29, 2011
at First Christian Church, 401 W. Jefferson St. Bloomington, IL.
Pastor Jim Warren and Pastor Dick Trefzger will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church.
Burial will be at Dawson Cemetery in rural Ellsworth at 2:00 pm on
December 29, 2011. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington is handling arrangements for the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Midwest
Affiliate or the First Christian Church in Bloomington.
Dwight was born May 16, 1921 in Arrowsmith, IL a son of William
Carlos and Eva Esther Holt Fowler. He married Frances I. Neal on
August 25, 1938 in Bloomington, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Larry Duane and Jerry Lee
(Judith K.) Fowler both of Bloomington; four granddaughters; one
grandson; four great grandsons; three great granddaughters; one
sister, Ruth (Dewey) Wedding; three brothers, Lewis (Mary) Fowler,
Harold (Virginia) Fowler, and Charles (Patricia) Fowler; two
sister-in-laws, Patricia Fowler and Garnet Studley; and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two
sisters, and one daughter, Marilyn Joyce.
Dwight served his country in the United States Army during WWII
as a PFC in the South Pacific. Upon returning he managed and
operated several service stations in Bloomington for over 20 years.
He also worked for Neal Toyota as the Parts Manager for 20 years
until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Bloomington Masonic Lodge #43, Carl S.
Martin Post 635 the American Legion, and First Christian Church for
over 60 years, where he served as a deacon and an usher for many
years.
Dwight was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and
friend, who was a servant to all he knew and will be greatly
missed.
