Marie E. Funk
Roanoke - Marie E. Funk, 93, of Roanoke, IL passed away at 6:35
am on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian
Home where she was a resident.
She was born on June 11, 1919 in Metamora, IL a daughter of
Frank and Angelina Grebner Schneider. She married Virgil L. Funk on
February 1, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James (Marsha) Funk of Carlock, IL;
John (Peggy) Funk of Morton, IL; five grandchildren, Matt (Staci)
Funk; Lynn (Phil) Halcomb; Kyle (Christina) Funk; Kirk Funk; Karly
Funk; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, and
two sisters.
Marie was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She was a
wonderful homemaker who loved to garden, play pinochle, and go
fishing with her husband Virgil in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke
where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 10, 2012
at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mnsgr. Charles Beebe will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the
Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. A prayer service will
be held at 4:30 pm before the start of the visitation. Burial will
be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
