Mildred and Walter. I feel your loss and miss J.W. so much. We spent so much time listening to his records which he loved so much in his apartment in Bloomington. I was one of the few that was lucky enough to come to his apartment on a regular basis. He also actually allowed me into his world and we shared our experiences growing up at different times in East St. Louis, our family dynamics, and our other life experiences. He and my mother even became friends as well as many of my siblings. He was family. So many times we drank beer and escaped the problems of today listening to Dinah Washington, Earth Wind and Fire, or many of the other hundreds of artists in his collection. He gave me confidence and strength to return to college and get a second degree by being unsympathetic when I was down. I thank him for that and know that he has found peace in the afterlife. I love you James and miss you so much.

Dear Mildred and Walter, I just can't believe this.. I recently spoke with J.W.. and I am just stunned, heart-broken and sad. James and I fought like cats and dogs for over 20 years.. but I loved him dearly. We had so many plans.. I am so sorry that he's gone, I'm so sorry that he never had the chance to reach his goals, I am so sorry, that the world didn't get a chance to witness his true genius. I'm so sorry. He has left us too soon. I feel so cheated, not being able to say goodbye. But he always told me that he wanted it this way... I'm so sorry. Mildred and Walter, I am so sorry. Mildred.. please call me at 612-916-2673 - With all my thoughts and prayers, and my deepest condolences... Sharon in Minneapolis

To James' Family: James was one of the greatest human beings I've ever met. I worked in Radio across the USA and later became Publicist for several very well known artist. I always made sure that James was informed of the various artist that I knew when they came to his area. Great writer, fantastic ideal person, and we were both record collectors. We talked frequently and I tried to reach out to him often. He will be really missed and my prayers for a happy life hereafter.

Dear Mildred, I AM IN TOTAL SHOCK.....I'm at work sitting at my desk fighting back the tears. I didn't know JW passed. I found out today (12-01-11). I had been trying to reach him by phone for the past few months and wondered why I wasn't able to reach him or why he wasn't returning my calls. I didn't have your number so I couldn't call you. I saved his address in my home computer, but it had a virus and I wasn't able to access it. I finally found an old address book last week with his address in it. In fact, I bought him a birthday card the other day because I was going to mail it to him and include some old pix from our MAJIC 108 days. I was going to mail the card today. It's sitting on my desk and now I'm just staring at it. I'll always remember Jay and treasure the fun times we had at KATZ and MAJIC 108. Whenever I see an vinyl LP or hear some golden oldies, I'll think of him :) Please take care of his massive record collection....you know those records and music meant the world to him!!! Please know that you and your family are in my prayers and contact me when you're up to it. -Sandy Sandra Watson 125 Spring Avenue St. Louis, MO 63135 (314) 522-0282 (if you get my answering machine, please leave your contact info) watsongoodsam@yahoo.com
