Lacon
James "Jim" Strong, 77, of Lacon passed away at 11:20 p.m. on
Friday February 10, 2012 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon.
He was born on May 30, 1934 in Lacon, IL to the late Gerald and
Kathryn (Burlingame) Strong. He married Pat Schupp on
November 14, 1953 in Lacon; she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Debra LaRosae, of Lacon; one
son, James (Laurie) Strong, of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Rob
Carroll, of Rockford, Sean Carroll, of Chillicothe, and Larissa and
Tyler Strong, of Bloomington; one great-grandchild; two brothers,
Jack (Barb) Strong, and Tom (Judy) Strong, both of Lacon; and two
sisters, Doris Mayer and Linda (Tom) Kennedy, both of
Lacon.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael.
Jim retired from Caterpillar Inc. after working for 30 years as
a heavy equipment operator. He loved hunting and fishing and
spending time with his family. Jim was the best husband, dad
and grandpa ever. He will be greatly missed by his
family.
Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no
visitations or services. Memorials may be made in Jim's name
to Methodist Hospice Services, 221 NE Glen Oak Ave., Peoria,
