Oh Ziggy... Truly done to soon... My heavy heart goes out to those left behind. What a friend that will never be replaced. Amy, Courtney, Zack... my prayers to you. Never a man so affable. The Lord must have needed his own personal "ambassador" for there is no other rational of Doug's leaving us so young.

It's hard to put into words how much this saddens me, but I am so very thankful to have been lucky enough to know Doug and his family. I send heartfelt hugs to Amy and the family, wishing them the strength found in being surrounded by friends and family. Many people never do as much good, touch as many lives as Doug did in this too short of a life. I can only picture him leaning over to my mom in heaven telling her some riotous joke, and that thought makes me smile, again glad to have known Doug.

I worked for Doug at the Henry New Republican from January 2005 to April 2009. He was a very nice man, very laid-back and friendly. I remember he was always smiling and I remember his laughter. He loved what he did and relished telling me about some of the stories that were making their way into the paper. My job at the Henry News Republican was one of the first I ever had and I'll always cherish the memories I have of the job and of Doug. He will definitely be missed and especially because it wasn't yet his time to go. Amy and his family have my condolences.
