Vernon Schrock Eureka- Retired contractor, Vernon “Tim” Schrock, 97, of Eureka, IL died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in Eureka. He was born to William and Fanny (Ulrich) Schrock in 1914 in Eureka. He married Alma O’Connell in 1935, and she died in 1955. In 1956, he married Aline (Detweiler) Johnson and became the father of her two children, Virginia (Dean) Eyman of Oak Ridge, TN and Charles (Carole) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO. Aline passed away in December, 2005. Surviving are their children, grandchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Eyman of Kingston, TN; Angela (Scott) Meller of Blacksburg, VA; Michael (Angela) Johnson of Eureka, IL; and Nicholas and Laura Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mary Ann Flanagan of Eureka. In addition to his two wives, two brothers, Glen and Rollie Schrock, and two sisters, Ruth Albright and Helen Miller, preceded him in death. Tim lived on a farm until he was 14 and loved those memories, but his life work was as a contractor. He and his brother, Rollie, built the first duplexes at Maple Lawn, in addition to many of the houses in Eureka. At retirement, he purchased farmland in order to enjoy the joy of his life——horses. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Eureka Christian Church. Rev. Jennie Churchman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the services at the church. A burial service will be held at Olio Township Cemetery at 9 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
