Richard Larson
Eureka-Richard Charles Larson, 88, of 310 Evergreen Ct., Eureka, died at 7:16 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Liberty Bible Church, Eureka. Rev. Tom Zobrist will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Olio Twp. Cemetery, Eureka. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 on Wednesday at Liberty Bible Church. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Liberty Bible Church.
Richard was born February 19, 1918 in Silvis, IL a son of Richard E. and Martha Schultz Larson. He married Nancy M. Thurber on July 27, 1945 in Denver, CO. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary K.(Paul) Orns, El Paso, Linda E. Larson, Gearhart,OR ; two sons, James R. (Helga) Larson, Corbett, OR, and Daniel P. Larson, Franktown,CO; three sisters, Athalie Bennett, Loyal,WI, Kay (Elmer) Powers, Silver Creek,NE, and Julie (Earl) Schamehorn, Redlands,CA; one brother, Dennis Larson, Loyal,WI; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard received his doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He taught agriculture in Dexter,MI and Olivet,MI. He then managed the farm at Western Illinois University in Macomb and retired as the student teacher supervisor in the greater Peoria area for Western Illinois University. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was an active member of Liberty Bible Church, Eureka and the Life Club at his church.
Dick was a humble man who served Jesus Christ with his whole life. He loved and cherished his family and enjoyed studying and teaching about God’s creation.
